So the 2010 Warwickshire Cricket League season came to an end this weekend for Aston CC 1st XI, with Aston picking up maximum points after a win over Wilnecote. Wilnecote posted 84 on the board before being bowled out, with Aston cruising to 85 for two wickets. However this wasn't enough for Aston to finish third place, with the honours instead going to Dunlop Coventry. A special mention must go out to T Habib though for his 8 for 26 during the match. All in all then a decent season for Aston, with high hopes for success next season.

22/08/2010

Not much to report this weekend as Aston's home game to Stockingford was abandoned after consistent rain. That means Aston slip a place down the table to fifth, as Walmley 3/4 beat bottom club Elford to pick up the maximum 24 points and move up two places to fourth. There is a silver lining to this Saturday's cloud however, as Dunlop Coventry lost to Wilnecote meaning they are still in third place on 229 points, only 19 ahead of Aston.

The 2010 season draws to a close next weekend and weather permitting Aston travel to Wilnecote in their final game next Saturday (12.30pm scheduled start). The middle of table is still looking pretty tight at the moment, with the top two teams distancing themselves from the rest of the pack. At the top, Hunningham look certain to take the title or at the very least finish runners up. Aston can finish the season in third place, providing they gain the maximum 24 points next weekend and both Dunlop Coventry and Walmley 3/4 slip up. Dunlop Coventry face second place Coventry University & RM CC, while Walmley 3/4 travel to Stockingford. A tough final weekend ahead for Aston, but then again anything is possible.
